LCYC is a member-run club organized as a non-profit corporation under the laws of the state of Vermont. Our only employees are stewards or instructors. The club is managed by a Board of Governors, each person elected for a three-year term. The terms are staggered to assure management continuity and to preserve a high degree of tradition over time. The elected Commodore serves a two-year term.
Each board member has a designated area of management responsibility, as assigned by the Commodore. To broaden member involvement in the smooth running of the club we have both formal and informal committees, chaired by a board member or appointed committee chair(s). To avoid the trap of the willing doing all of the work, all members are required to participate in our spring and fall workdays, when the club is opened and closed. Those unable to attend are required to help out with other tasks during the season. All member family units are required to volunteer a minimum of 8 hours annually.
